Esther Tang started dancing when she was ten years old--and hasn’t stopped since. She began in ballet and quickly added classes in jazz, lyrical, modern, and contemporary. What started in Northern California continued to Hawai’i when she began training with Prisma Dance in her freshman year of high school. Since joining Prisma, she has been in nearly every spring recital, two productions of Creation (2018, 2021), and a Christmas production (2019). As an extension of her dance journey and training with Nicole Lam, she completed the teacher training program with Aubrey Van Benthem and started leading her own classes shortly after. Crediting her large family, she explains how her natural enjoyment of children, relationships, and passion for dance helped her discover a meaningful love for teaching. She is known for instructing her students to wholeheartedly pursue their skills and purposefully love themselves through the process. Currently a sophomore at Kapiolani community college, she plans to transfer to the University of Hawaii, Manoa to receive her bachelor’s in Psychology. She also wants to pursue a masters with the end goal of eventually working as a therapist, using the power of dance to help heal. Esther finds happiness through a purpose-driven life of close people, laughter, sunny days at the beach, learning, teaching, reading, writing, dancing, and falling more deeply in love with the Lord every day.
