Our Love Story - Chao & Nicole
JULY 14, 2015
Nicole took her first team of Prisma dancers to Kenya, including her two sisters, Joanna and Rachel. Nicole met Chao at Word of Life Kabete. Chao was the ministry coordinator for Word of Life. They worked together to hold a dance, acro, and arts camp for 100+ children and went on outreaches to local schools in the area.
NOVEMBER 19, 2015
Nicole traveled back to Kenya, to experience the Word of Life Camps. During this trip Nicole got to see Chao leading camps and ministry outreaches.
DECEMBER 11, 2016
Nicole and Chao traveled north to Samburu to a girls' home that rescues girls from FGM. There they had the privilege of serving and doing ministry together.
DECEMBER 24, 2016
Nicole traveled with Chao and his friends to western Kenya to spend Christmas with his mom. Chao's mom and Nicole hit it off from the beginning and there was lots of laughter and dancing at her home and special memories were made.
DECEMBER 17, 2021
Nicole and Chao reconnected as friends during Nicole's trip to Kenya to visit friends in Mombasa. During this trip Nicole fell sick and Chao brought her food and checked up on her. During her recovery they were able to catch up on how God had been working in their lives over the past 5 years.
OCTOBER 18, 2022
Nicole traveled to Kenya for a collaborative dance project with Prisma Dance and Camp Ohana, and was able to spend some time with Chao during that project.
DECEMBER 20, 2023
Nicole flew to Kenya Dec 20, 2023, and landed in Nairobi in the late evening. Chao wasted no time, that same night Chao proposed and she said YES! Though Nicole was hopeful a proposal would happen during the trip she was completely surprised that it was the same night she landed! Though Chao and Nicole were officially dating since May 2023, they had not been on an in-person date as a dating couple and so their first official date was as an engaged couple!
DECEMBER 21, 2023
Chao and Nicole enjoyed going on their first date in Naivasha and walking around freely with zebras and wild animals. They traveled to the village to spend Christmas with his mom and Nicole was taught how they prepare chicken and chapati. Chao was invited to speak at two churches for Christmas Eve and Christmas. They spent 3 weeks visiting friends and family and introducing Nicole to Chao's mentors, church community, and close friends. Their time together was so special and they are looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together!
